Every Halloween I wish I had a list of the Halloween episodes I like so I can go through them, but I’ve watched so many good ones during marathon sprints of TV shows that I lose track of where I am… and if I don’t write it down I eventually forget about it anyway. Writing posts about them will help me keep track and get more comfortable writing about the media that I watch.
I thought this episode captured the heart of a good “Halloween’s been canceled but we’re still staying spooky” mood. The town isn’t on lockdown but people didn’t buy candy since the news kept warning of the dangers of trick-or-treating with an alleged wolf on the loose.
Linda (dressed as “Cher-iff”) goes out with the kids (Gene as “handsome grapes,” Louise as “the guy from No Country for Old Men,” and Tina as a “Mom-bie”); she’s out as fun mom, ready to have a fun spooky time! but also for protection in case they come across the wolf. When they find out that no one’s doing Halloween, Linda takes the kids on a fun Halloween adventure through the spooky woods to find the wolf.
Meanwhile, Bob is home on the couch with a broken leg (it’s a long story – no spoilers) and Teddy’s around (dressed as “sexy nurse”) to watch him while he gets loopy on painkillers. As the night progresses, so does his paranoia, and after seeing a suspicious bite on Teddy’s arm, Bob assumes he’s a werewolf…
I enjoyed the walk through the Halloween-decorated neighborhood, spooky woods, and there was even a scary ‘playground in the fog’ scene. The art was beautiful and despite being August (the very beginning of Halloween season) I felt drawn in like it was 55 degrees outside.
